Bring your family and friends for Glen Ellyn's favorite hometown tradition, the annual Fourth of July Celebration. 

June 30, 2018: Lake Ellyn Cardboard Regatta
12 noon at Lake Ellyn Park
The sky’s the limit - and sometimes, the bottom of the sea, when it’s the Glen Ellyn Cardboard Regatta! Join your fellow landlubbers onshore to witness the creativity, bravery and sheer tomfoolery of crews of ordinary souls who dare to launch vessels crafted of corrugated cardboard. The regatta is a unique display of ingenuity, an ode to engineering and imagination. Join the thousands who gather to witness this summertime spectacle, as hundreds set sail in full regalia, commanding vessels that rival the wonders of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. It’s an afternoon of hilarious fun, whether you’re onboard or onshore. Will the boats float? June 30, 2018:  Food Truck Picnic in the Park
11:00 AM – 3:00 PM at Lake Ellyn Park
New this year!  Picnic in the Park via Food Trucks dishing out all kind of great street eats while you witness the summertime spectacle of the Glen Ellyn Cardboard Regatta, as hundreds set sail in full regalia.  Enjoy great food such as grilled cheese, tacos, burgers, pizza & more!  All proceeds go to the 4th of July committee, an all volunteer organization, to fund the parade and fireworks. www.GlenEllyn4thofJuly.org

July 4, 2018: Afternoon Festivities at Lake Ellyn
1:00-4:00 at Lake Ellyn
This event is the perfect family activity after watching the Fourth of July Parade. Participants may purchase a $3 wristband to enjoy all of the action, supported by generous donations from Rotary Club of Glen Ellyn! Be sure to bring your family for a couple hours of fun at the lake! Wristband fee benefits the GEPD Scholarship Fund. 2018 festivities include: Moonwalks, Inflatable Obstacle Course, Eight penny carnival games with tickets redeemable for lots of prizes, Live music and dancing and Face painting. 

July 4, 2018: Glen Ellyn’s 4th of July Fireworks 
Dusk at Lake Ellyn Park
Join us as Glen Ellyn lights up the skyline celebrating America’s birthday! Grab your blanket and be awed by this star spangled spectacle of fireworks.   No blankets are allowed on Lake Ellyn Park until the park opens on July 4th at 6 a.m.  Do not use rocks or stakes to hold blankets down and they should not be laid on landscape plants. The Glen Ellyn Forth of July Committee is offering special "Boomer Booster Seats" on the Lake Ellyn boathouse dock.  Look for new details as the arise. www.GlenEllyn4thofJuly.org

Volunteers Needed for July 4th Parade
Volunteers are needed for the Parade on Wednesday, July 4th.  Over 50 volunteers are required to greet parade units, check them in, line them up, answer questions, and move them toward the starting point once the parade starts.  There will be an hour long pre-parade meeting to hand out assignments and discuss questions.  Please volunteer on-line at www.GlenEllyn4thofJuly.org .

Grand Marshal Nominations
The Glen Ellyn 4th of July Committee is seeking Grand Marshal nominations for its annual 4th of July Parade. The selection committee will consider things such as each candidate’s community service involvement, volunteerism and leadership.  The nominations must include background information on each candidate.
