The Glen Ellyn 4th of July Committee has announced Robert
Chambers will be the Grand Marshal of 4th of July Parade.

Chambers, a lifelong resident of Glen Ellyn, has been very active
with the Glen Ellyn Historical Society and the Forest Hill Cemetery
Board for many years.

Bob began volunteering at the Historical Society in the early 1980.
He revitalized the house plaque program and continues to review
requests to have a home receive a plaque. He photographed homes
that were designated as teardowns to preserve their history.

In 1999, Bob and Helen Ward, along with a committee, wrote and
coauthored “Glen Ellyn: A Village Remembered”, a thorough history
of the Village. He serves as Historian and can still be found at the
Historical Society every week. Bob received The DuPage County
Historical Society Recognition Award in 2012. And, in 2014, Bob was honored by the Village of Glen Ellyn recognizing his commitment and contributions in preserving the history of Glen Ellyn.

Karen Hill, Executive Director at the Historical Society, says, “Bob is a living resource for us. He has a wealth of knowledge through his years of personal experience and research.”  After years of assisting Jerry Perkins at the Forest Hill Cemetery, Bob became Board President in 2012. He continues in that role today, overseeing the care of the Glen Ellyn cemetery.

The Grand Marshall is chosen on the basis of community service, volunteerism and leadership.
